Why did you choose a data
centre for an apprenticeship?
hoosing an apprenticeship in a data centre
was an easy choice for me. Having a family
connection in the 昀椀eld gave me an early idea
of what data centres are all about. After meeting the
team at Equinix and seeing their operations up close, I
realized how much potential there is in this 昀椀eld.

I’m starting off aiming for a technical role as I enjoy
being hands on with the work. That type of role allows
me to get into the thick of things on the ground. But
what’s great about data centres is the variety of paths
you can take. If down the road I decide to switch things
up, moving into a design role or another technical area
within the same industry seems pretty straight forward.

The hands-on, practical work is what really drew me
in. I wasn’t interested in just sitting at a desk all day.
I wanted to be involved in something where there’s
always something new to solve. And understanding
how these places keep running nearly non-stop, how
everything connects and works together—that’s
just fascinating.
Plus, there’s always new tech coming into play, which
keeps the job interesting and fresh.
