Has there been a moment that made you
feel like you truly belonged in this industry
and why did that stand out to you?
There have been a couple of moments that have really stood out. Being
invited to host or speak on panels was a big one because it made me
realise that people valued my perspective. I had something to contribute
to the conversation and I wasn’t just observing the industry anymore, but
was part of it.
I also remember walking into a conference and recognising people,
having conversations with familiar faces who weren’t just colleagues, but
my new network. That was a really important moment. Early on, I could
see how tight-knit the industry was and how everyone knew each other.
At 昀椀rst this felt overwhelming, but this particular event helped me realise
I’d found my place within it.
What stands out is that it takes time. You have to invest in relationships,
put yourself out there, and build that con昀椀dence. And over time you see
the shift from being outside the industry to being a part of it, and that is
incredibly rewarding.
