Critical Careers

How did you 昀椀rst discover digital
infrastructure, and what led you to the
role you’re in today?
I didn’t plan to go into digital infrastructure. Before this, I was working
in solar power and looking to move from Wales to London. I started
exploring different companies and roles and AVK stood out as a company
doing something interesting. I joined as a junior CAD designer and
progressed into a lead role as I gained more experience.
When I was younger, I always saw myself doing something creative.
Before university, I considered 昀椀ne art, but ultimately chose to keep it as
a personal interest. Product design felt like a better balance, combining
creativity with something more practical and tangible.
That creative foundation has carried through. I’ve still found a way to
apply those strengths, just in a context I hadn’t originally considered.
