Critical Careers
MID CAREER
How did you 昀椀rst discover digital
infrastructure, and how did you get into the
role you’re in today?
When I was younger, I wanted to be a vet. I volunteered in animal
hospitals, worked with the WWF, ran campaigns - I did it all. When I
didn’t get the grades I needed for veterinary school, I took a step back
to rethink my plan. That resulted in taking a gap year to really think more
broadly about what I enjoyed.
My dad also had a big in昀氀uence on me. He worked in the semiconductor
industry, so discussions about global markets, technology and 昀椀nance
were a normal part of life growing up. That naturally shaped the way I
think. I became curious not just about what was happening in the world,
but what was driving it underneath.
My mum nurtured a love of reading and writing, which gave me a
different lens on things. I was always trying to understand what actually
makes the world work, but also how to communicate those ideas clearly.
Eventually, that mix of curiosity and communication led me to choose a
double major in economics and 昀椀nance.

After I 昀椀nished university, my 昀椀rst role was in 昀椀nancial writing, and that
became one of the most important foundations of my career. I learned
how to take complex topics and make them readable, interesting and
digestible. It drew on a lot of what my parents had instilled in me growing
up, so it felt natural and gave me an early strength I’ve carried into all my
roles since.
My background in 昀椀nancial writing eventually led me into a new role
in crypto and Web3 marketing. It felt like a new 昀椀nancial frontier, fast
moving, unpredictable and impossible to ignore. Everything moved fast.
Markets could rise and collapse before lunch. It was chaotic, but I loved
the momentum. I grew quickly in that environment and took on more
responsibility across content, editorial and strategy.
