Critical Careers
MID CAREER
How did you 昀椀rst discover digital
infrastructure, and what led you to the
role you’re in today?
I’ve always been a curious person. I believe there is always that moment
where something clicks and you realise there’s a whole world you didn’t
even know existed.
In school, I was studying commerce, but I didn’t really have a sense
of what I wanted my career to be yet. During a break in my studies, I
decided to take a technical course, almost out of curiosity more than
anything else and something de昀椀nitely clicked for me.
It was the 昀椀rst time I saw what actually sits behind the technology we use
every day. Things like routers, 昀椀bre optic cables, how data moves from
one place to another. I remember being genuinely surprised because I
had always assumed everything was just wireless. You use technology
constantly, but you don’t really stop to think about what’s powering it.
From there, I found myself wanting to understand more. I moved into
computer science and began getting closer to the infrastructure itself
and started to see how systems are built and how everything connects
behind the scenes.

Then I was introduced to cloud computing, which opened up a
completely new perspective. The idea that you could design and scale
infrastructure on demand completely changed how I thought about
technology. That’s what led me to pursue my Master’s Degree. Through
that, I started to understand the broader digital infrastructure ecosystem
— data centres, cooling, AI, and how it all connects.
