How did you get into digital infrastructure?
I always say it was a happy coincidence. I studied French Philology and
was fully set on becoming a Polish–French translator. Then, right at the
end of university, someone mentioned an opportunity at Polish Telecom.
They had been acquired by a French company and were looking for
bilingual people. I interviewed and got the job.
That was my entry point into telecoms. I started as a PA, moved into
sales, and eventually into acquisitions. Over time, that naturally evolved
into the data centre side of the industry. But none of it was planned. It
was a series of steps that just built on each other.
What I didn’t expect was how tough it would be in the beginning. It was
a very male-dominated environment, and as a young woman without
an engineering background, I wasn’t always taken seriously. That was
probably the hardest part of the journey.
Over time, I saw the industry change. More women started to come in,
support each other, and build something more inclusive. And for me,
that’s when the shift happened. It stopped being about trying to 昀椀t in,
and started being about how I could contribute and make it better for the
women coming behind me. That was the point when I really started to
enjoy the industry.
