“This is an industry

Was there a point where your career
accelerated and what do you think truly
made the difference at that stage?
Can you share an example of when you
created an opportunity that changed
someone’s trajectory?
My career really accelerated after my time at Microsoft, when I moved
back to lead the EMEA data centre leasing team at JLL. At that point,
the occupier advisory and leasing side of the business hadn’t really
been built out, so I was tasked with developing that. It coincided with
a huge surge in demand driven by AI and cloud expansion, so the
timing was a big factor.
One example that really stands out is when I started building the leasing
practice. At the time, it was just me, and I was working with someone in
India on a client instruction.
Having that in-house hyperscaler experience, combined with
the opportunity to build something from the ground up in a
fast-moving market, made a real difference. It gave me both
the credibility and the platform to step into a much bigger role,
but also reinforced the importance of staying curious. This is
an industry where you’re constantly bridging the gap between
technical infrastructure and commercial needs, so you have to
keep learning.
He immediately stood out for his tenacity and work ethic. We worked very
well together and built a really strong working relationship very quickly. I
recognised his potential and wanted to create an opportunity for him to
broaden his experience, so I brought him into my team in Europe.
Since then, we’ve built the practice together. The team has grown
signi昀椀cantly, and he’s gained exposure to a completely different
environment. It’s been a real partnership, and he’s made a huge impact
on the team.
