Kao Data is fully committed to providing
climate resilient computing as evidenced by
being founding signatories to the Climate
Neutral Data Centre Pact (CNDCP) since 2021.
While we work on reducing our real-world
emissions, we are increasing circularity in
waste and water usage, and ensuring our
energy usage is always matched by renewable
generation. In fact, according to techUK the
use of power purchase agreements (PPAs)
by data centre operators are actually giving
energy project developers the con昀椀dence to
bring new renewables capacity to the grid.
Furthermore, modelling by Aurora Energy
Research suggests that projected growth
in the data centre sector could help to
“provide a route-to-market” for 19 GW
of renewable energy projects by 2035.
Kao Data is therefore playing a key role
in helping achieve the UK government’s
pathway to a clean power system outlined in
its ‘Clean Power 2030 Action Plan’. This plan
aims for 95% of Great Britain’s power to be
generated through clean sources by 2030.
