In line with the aims of the CNDCP
and customer requirements, energy
ef昀椀ciency is a crucial part of any
successful deployment, ensuring
we are operating optimally for our
customers and communities.
The insights gained
from KLON-03 will form
the foundation for the
development of a future
digital twin capability,
enabling enhanced
performance monitoring,
scenario testing, and
continuous optimisation of
energy and cooling ef昀椀ciency
throughout the asset lifecycle.
During 2025-26 our facilities management partner CBRE
continued to support our sustainable expansion across the
UK and then Europe, ensuring procedural standardisation
across our Kao Data’s data centre estate, and new ‘next
tier’ data centre locations. For instance, by integrating
its acclaimed Critical Environments Risk Management
(CERM™) programme we are better able to identify and
reduce human-related risks, while increasing ef昀椀ciencies, and
maintaining 100% customer uptime.
KLON-03: Harnessing digital twins
The increased resource demands associated with AI often
contribute to the perception that AI and data centres
are at odds with sustainability goals. In fact, AI offers us
a fundamental tool for engineering more sustainable
outcomes. To ensure we optimise resource use and minimise
consumption we utilise digital twins among other AI tools to
improve strategic cohesion for our customers. This means we
maximise the client’s value from capex while ensuring deep
ESG data integration, leading to more sustainable solutions.
The insights gained from KLON-03 will form the foundation for
the development of a future digital twin capability, enabling
enhanced performance monitoring, scenario testing, and
continuous optimisation of energy and cooling ef昀椀ciency
throughout the asset lifecycle. The outcomes achieved are
already being used to directly inform Kao Data’s future design
standards, with the removal of adiabatic cooling, increased
space ef昀椀ciency, modular electrical infrastructure, advanced
digital modelling, and dual air/liquid-cooling capability. This
has enabled the formation of a proven AI inspired blueprint for
subsequent developments across the portfolio.
