Introduction
Environmental
To meet evolving demands, we have incorporated the
very latest water-ef昀椀cient designs into our newest facility,
KLON-03 in Harlow. This facility not only doubles our
compute capacity compared to a typical UK adiabatic data
centre but greatly improves water usage ef昀椀ciency (WUE)
while delivering better power usage ef昀椀ciency (PUE). For
example, over a twenty-year period, KLON-03 facility will
use as much water as a family of four does in a single year –
challenging the misconception that UK-based data centres,
engineered for AI, are ‘using up’ all our natural resources.

Secure, scalable and sustainable
Over the last twelve months there have been many
conversations within the data centre sector about energy
costs and energy access as the critical constraints on
the UK’s AI growth ambitions. With GPU manufacturing
ramping up, it’s no longer about silicon but rather access
to available, scalable, renewable energy, marking a shift in
competition from chips to grids.
To stay ahead in 2025-26, we are developing access to
100% renewably matched power via a landmark agreement
with Downing Renewable Developments (DRD). This
enables us to develop, build and operate a 40MW solar
photovoltaic (PV) farm that will supply our Harlow campus.
The Green Data Solar Farm project is anticipated to be one
of the 昀椀rst, ground-mounted solar PV systems supplying
a UK colocation data centre directly via a private wire.
This initiative represents a signi昀椀cant step in our strategy
- supporting our continuous commitments to reducing
carbon emissions and enhancing energy resilience through
veri昀椀ed renewable sources.

HSE: Exceeding compliance, setting the standard
Keeping our workers and our customers safe sits at the
heart of everything we do. Throughout 2025-26 Kao
Data has continued to raise the bar for health, safety and
environmental risk management and performance across
both construction and live operational environments. With
the help of our Facilities Management partners, CBRE, and
the tireless work of our HSE Director, Scott Manton, we have
delivered a comprehensive programme of operational and
organisational HSE training – achieving a 96.4% mandatory
core training completion rate across the CBRE platform,
including 100% completion of all mandatory HSE training
requirements, supported by 183 hours of training delivery.
