Critical Careers:
Women in digital
infrastructure
Governance
“Our mission with Critical Careers is simple: to shine a light on
the stories of remarkable women – across ages, backgrounds,
disciplines, and geographies – who are thriving in digital
infrastructure. Many of the women we speak with view their
work as part of a larger purpose. They aren’t just building data
centres – they’re building society’s future.”
Kalay Moodley, Chief People Of昀椀cer, Kao Data
The challenge in the data centre industry is not the
availability of talent; it is the visibility of talent. To help
highlight the many diverse routes women have taken to what
is a relatively new industry, we launched ‘Critical Careers:
Women in Digital Infrastructure’.
Critical Careers began as a coffee table book celebrating
women in digital infrastructure and has since grown into an
award-winning industry initiative with six strategic partners,
two podcast seasons, and live events.
We recently launched a second edition of the book, building
a growing online community with thousands of engagements,
downloads and streams. Through Critical Careers we are also
working with STEM Learning (a third-party education partner)
to develop a programmatic plan to create meaningful and
lasting impact by boosting the number of women pursuing a
career in the data centre industry.
