Through collaboration with external
stakeholders and partners, we are
strengthening community resilience,
while ensuring that the data centre
industry is diverse, inclusive and
prepared to face the future.
Building tomorrow’s workforce
Kao Data is already involved in various impact initiatives,
including the work of The Kao Academy, our partnership
with Cisco led Discover Tech, and through college
partnerships such as Stockport College, helping us to build
tomorrow’s workforce by closing the digital skills gap:

The Kao Academy
Good Things Foundation
The Kao Academy, a pioneering 昀椀rst for the industry, is
Kao Data’s vehicle for raising awareness about STEM.
Delivered via an interactive website, the academy’s
six-week lesson plan helps teach children at Key Stage
2 (aged 7-11) about the underpinning role of digital
infrastructure across society, how data centres support
this, including how they are designed, engineered and
constructed, explaining both their importance and
relevance to our everyday lives.
As opposed to sending out traditional corporate
gifts and Christmas cards during the festive season,
Kao Data contributed to Good Things Foundation in
2025-26. Aligned with our company values the Good
Things Foundation is the UK’s leading digital inclusion
charity and they help people use and access the
internet and technology in communities nationwide.

Hark: Building industry
awareness
Through an ongoing partnership with Hark, an
education and youth consultancy, we are helping
bridge the gap between businesses and young
people. We have launched the programme
nationwide providing teachers with a ready-made
lesson plan to teach students about data centres,
and why they are critically important.
Vocational partnerships
Kao Data is focused on the next generation of talent,
and we have partnership agreements in place with
both Trafford and Stockport College and Harlow
College to make the students aware of the career
opportunities that exist in the digital infrastructure
sector via workshops and career fairs.
