Our Community Impact Strategy
At Kao Data, we understand that our data
centres are not just buildings, they can actually
bring people together and function as the
catalyst for positive change in the communities
where we operate and beyond. Furthermore,
with data centres increasingly viewed as critical
national infrastructure, community trust is
fundamental to our licence to operate. As such
Kao Data puts community collaborations and
industry partnerships at the heart of everything
we do. Through our new Community Impact
Strategy we are not just powering digital
infrastructure, we are actively contributing to
local innovation, economic growth and social
and environmental impact by putting people
and planet 昀椀rst in the age of AI.

Kao SEED Fund in action 2025-26
Our community ‘Kao SEED Fund’
To catalyse community-led innovation and
impact we recently launched the Kao SEED
Fund (‘Social Enterprise and Environmental
Development’). Through this fund we
provide 昀椀nancial support to not-for-pro昀椀t,
community-led initiatives that drive social
and environmental development. Through
our regional funding pots, we offer small
packages of 昀椀nancial support and ongoing
mentorship that will empower local projects
focused on creating a positive impact in the
surrounding community.
In 2025-26 our Kao SEED Fund Harlow
distributed £30,000 of funding to not-forpro昀椀t projects across the local community.
Funding pots of between £500 and £2,500
were awarded to 20 unique initiatives that
either enhanced community development,
created new enterprising opportunities and/
or supported environmental sustainability.
Through Kao SEED Fund Stockport we also
distributed a further £30,000 in grants to 20
community led projects across the borough
helping bridge the gap between technology
and community.
A winning community strategy
The Data Centre Solutions Awards
(DCS Awards) celebrates excellence,
innovation, and leadership across the
global data centre industry. At the 2025
awards Kao Data won the ‘Outstanding
Contribution to Diversity, Equality and
Social Responsibility Award’. The award
recognised the innovative, hyper-local,
community centric approach of our Kao
SEED Fund Stockport.
