An interview with
Adam Nethersole
SVP Sales and Marketing, and Kao SEED Fund
Ambassador at Kao Data
Governance
Hi Adam, can you tell us a bit more about the Kao
SEED fund?
Sure, the Kao SEED Fund is a community focused vehicle
for supporting the fantastic work already taking place within
the local communities around our facilities. For instance,
with the help of Sector 3, a Stockport charity infrastructure
organisation, we identify existing community projects and
ideas that we can best support.
How do you choose projects to support?
When assessing projects, we choose ones that are owned
and delivered by local champions. The fund is already
empowering grassroots community groups at a time when
access to funding is increasingly challenging – especially
smaller, more agile amounts of funding.
How do you measure the success of the
Kao SEED fund?
The 昀椀rst Kao SEED Fund has been an overwhelming success
and has set a new bar for genuine community engagement
within the industry. Through visits to the projects and
employee volunteering, our people are on the ground to
see projects progress. We are also kept to date remotely
by community project leaders through end-of-project
reports. These reports help us tailor our funding to maximise
innovation and impact.
What is next for the Kao SEED Fund?
In September 2025 we launched the Kao SEED Fund
to serve the community around our Harlow Campus, in
partnership with Harlow Council. This followed the same
model as that used in Stockport, and we are currently
preparing to launch the next Stockport SEED Fund in early
2026, working alongside some of our supply chain partners
to make it bigger, better and more impactful.
